How It Works – Plan Your Gallery Wall in Minutes
Designing a gallery wall transforms any room, but guesswork leads to unnecessary nail holes and misaligned art. Gallery Wall Planner gives you a virtual wall canvas that matches your real room dimensions down to the centimeter. Follow this complete step-by-step walkthrough to plan, align, and hang your frames effortlessly.

1
Step 1: Set Your Wall Dimensions & Units
Begin by measuring the target wall in your home. In the left panel under "Wall size", toggle between cm and inch, then input your measured width and height. The virtual canvas instantly scales to reflect your real wall proportions. For example, setting 240 cm width by 150 cm height gives you an exact 1:1 scale representation of your sofa wall.
Action: Select cm or inch and enter your wall width and height in the left control panel -
2
Step 2: Add Frames & Select Styles
Select standard preset sizes like A4, A3, 30×40 cm, or 50×70 cm, or enter custom dimensions for non-standard art. Before adding frames, pick your desired frame finish: warm Wood, sleek Metal, clean Black, or artistic Sketch style. For instance, you can add two 30×40 cm Wood frames and one central 50×70 cm Black frame to create a focal point.
Action: Choose a frame style, then click a preset or type custom dimensions and click Add Frame -

Step 3: Arrange & Use Smart Auto-Layouts
Drag frames freely across the stage or use automated templates like Triptych, 2×2 Grid, Symmetrical, or Salon Style. Enable the Grid Overlay, Distance Measurements, or the Eye-Level Guide (set to 145 cm) to ensure perfectly balanced spacing. For example, moving a frame close to another automatically shows equal distance indicators (e.g. 5 cm gap).
Action: Drag frames on stage or select an automated layout option under "Auto Layout" -

Step 4: Add Passe-Partout Mats & Upload Photos
Add visual elegance by enabling Mat / Passe-Partout with Thin, Medium, or Thick borders. To preview actual photos, select any frame on stage and click "Upload photo" to insert your image files. The app automatically scales and crops photos to fit within your specified frame boundaries.
Action: Toggle "Mat / passe-partout" and click "Upload photo" on selected frames -

Step 5: Customize Wall Color & Room Backgrounds
In the right panel under "Wall & Room", customize wall colors using the color picker or choose wall textures (Flat, Stucco, or Sketch). Select background room scenes like Living Room, Bedroom, Hallway, Kitchen, or Office, or upload a custom room photo with perspective correction.
Action: Select room presets or wall colors from the "Appearance" panel -
6
Step 6: Save & Share Links
To share your design with clients or friends, or to save it for yourself, click "Copy link" to create an encoded URL containing all wall dimensions, frame sizes, and coordinates.
Action: Use Copy Link to share or save your layout -
7
Step 7: Export Precision PDF & Hardware Guide
Once satisfied, click "Export PDF" to generate a detailed hanging plan with exact top-center nail coordinates measured from the wall edges. You can also export a 1:1 scale poster to tape directly onto your wall. Click "Hardware Guide" for anchor and nail recommendations based on frame weight and wall type (drywall or masonry).
Action: Click "Export PDF" for installation coordinates or "Hardware Guide" for drilling tools
